The Berkeley Lab Postdoc Association is an organization run by and for about 1000 postdocs and early career scientists working at the Lawrence Berkeley National Lab. We organize many activities to strengthen our ties to the Lab, to each other and to the (Berkeley) Bay Area. Our goal is to facilitate social interactions, scientific exchanges, seminars and general orientation.

Postdoc Labmate Program

Being new to the lab during times when in-person meetings are limited or not possible can be very challenging. So we’d like to continue to give new hires the opportunity to access information easier, find support, and most importantly, connect with others.

To help our new postdocs out, we’d like to invite you to participate in our Postdoc Labmate Program to join a group of postdocs who are willing to act as a “labmate” for new colleagues. Being a labmate means being there to support your new colleague through the challenges of joining the lab. Thanks to over 30 volunteers we were able to ease the start of a bunch of new hires at LBL throughout the last year.

Please sign below so we can keep up with this success. After signing up, we will match you with a new postdoc and provide you with their information so you can reach out.

What are your responsibilities, you ask? There are no strict rules you have to follow, the only thing we ask is for you to be supportive. We encourage you to help them to connect with other lab employees, get to know the lab culture and help find answers to their questions about the lab and life in the area.
