The Berkeley Lab Postdoc Association is an organization run by and for about 1000 postdocs and early career scientists working at the Lawrence Berkeley National Lab. We organize many activities to strengthen our ties to the Lab, to each other and to the (Berkeley) Bay Area. Our goal is to facilitate social interactions, scientific exchanges, seminars and general orientation.

Hike: Black Diamond Mines Regional Preserve (May 12, 2024)

This is a hike at the Black Diamond Mines Regional Preserve on Sunday, May 12, 2024. We are going to hike the Nortonville and Black Diamond Loop. This is a 5.7-mile loop (with elevation gained 1,374 ft) trail near Clayton, California. Generally considered a moderately challenging route, it takes an average of 3 h 4 min to complete. This is a very popular area for birding, hiking, and horseback riding. This trail is rated as moderate on the All-Trails app, there is almost no shade, so make sure to take some sun protection. Additionally, there are uphill and downhill segments in this hike so be prepared for that.  There each hiker will be expected to contribute approximately $10 to cover parking charge, and fuel.
