The Berkeley Lab Postdoc Association is an organization run by and for about 1000 postdocs and early career scientists working at the Lawrence Berkeley National Lab. We organize many activities to strengthen our ties to the Lab, to each other and to the (Berkeley) Bay Area. Our goal is to facilitate social interactions, scientific exchanges, seminars and general orientation.

Ice Skating

We will go ice skating at the Oakland Ice Center on Sunday December 9th at 3:15 pm. Interested parties should RSVP.

It’s winter time! Snow is falling in the Sierra, water is freezing in the lakes. Here in the Bay Area a few marketplace skating rings have opened to bring the joy of ice skating to everyone. Now, as BLPA, we are going to conquer this slippery solid H2O, trying to go as fast as possible – or simply trying to stay on our skates. We are going as a group to enjoy this activity together, help each other with tips & tricks, and to drink hot chocolate or some inner warming drinks. Who is the fastest? Who has the best technique? Who learns most? And who laughs the best?

When: Sunday December 9, 3:15 – 5:15 pm
Where: Oakland Ice Center (519 18th Street, Oakland)
Cost: $12 entrance + $5 skate rental, to be paid to the Ice Center on the day itself.

Gathering time:
Berkeley BART @ 2:45 pm
or
Oakland Ice Center @ 3:10 pm

You can either get there by yourself at 3:15, or join us for a BART ride from downtown Berkeley.
