BLPA wishes its LGBTQ+ community a happy Pride Month 2021!
We have two pride themed events and two opportunities this month to celebrate inclusiveness and diverse LBL postdoc community.
Please reach out to us if you have any other ideas of events for Pride Month that you would like to see/help BLPA organize.
Thursday, June 3rd, 1:00 PM, LBL Lambda Alliance – SGM Poster Session
Berkeley Lab Lambda Alliance Employee Resource Group invites you to join a virtual poster session intended as an educational experience for both presenters and attendees, as well as a celebration of Pride. You can also check out our poster on BLPA’s commitment to inclusiveness towards SGM community and intersectionality with an emphasis on demisexuality. Join the session here. Check out other pride themed events on the Lambda Alliance’s calendar here.
Movie Night is here yet again with Pride themed movies! Get your popcorn ready, and join our movie night with Teleparty (Netflix Party). Vote for your movie of choice here. The choice will be announced on our website postdoc.lbl.gov. The link to the party will be sent to you on Friday at about 7 pm. Want to participate? We’d love for you to join! Please sign up here.
This month BLPA would like to do a pride themed virtual Coffee with Postdocs. We want to help you tell your stories and to raise visibility/awareness regarding LGBTQ+/SGM issues among the broader postdoc community. Contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org if you would like to be featured in our weekly newsletter and talk about your experiences as a member of the LGBTQ+ community in Berkeley Lab.
Here are some examples of past Coffee with Postdocs events.
BLPA would like to do a pride themed virtual Cultural Lunch this month. Contact us at email@example.com if you would like to give a short virtual talk educating our postdocs about the LGBTQ+ community. Your talk can be as short as you want it to be (0< t < 50mins) and you can give a joint talk with your friends/coworkers. Here is an example of a Cultural Lunch given by Amalie Trewartha last year on Pride: a Beginner’s Guide to the Queer and LGBTQ+ Community.
