The Berkeley Lab Postdoc Association is an organization run by and for about 1000 postdocs and early career scientists working at the Lawrence Berkeley National Lab. We organize many activities to strengthen our ties to the Lab, to each other and to the (Berkeley) Bay Area. Our goal is to facilitate social interactions, scientific exchanges, seminars and general orientation.

Camping trip

Camping! That sounds scary for postdocs who are used to four solid walls separating themselves and their lab from the dangerous outside world! Still, 14 brave postdocs (not all depicted in the figure below) set off on a Saturday morning on July 13th to go to Clear Lake, to endure the mosquitoes, heat and creepy night sounds from scary animals. Luckily, the greatest invention of mankind, fire, managed to fend off all invaders, and as a bonus, feed us as well. After a couple of swims in the lake and a really long 1 mile hike, we all survived to get back to the safety of Berkeley on Sunday.
